Section I          General Rules

1.     All Rabbits must be Pre-Registered with the extension office by JUNE 6th , 2017.  Register any and all potential rabbits that you would use for the project.  If a member is not registered by the deadline, he/she may complete their project by doing a poster size 14 x 22.

2.     The exhibitor must mail a list of rabbits including breed, sex, and class (market or litter) to the 4-H extension office by JUNE 6th, 2017.  The registration forms will be reviewed by the project / show chairman.  Once all projects are registered and members have met all qualifications for the project, notification will be sent to each exhibitor about his/her project.

3.     A permanent or temprary Tattoo for ALL Rabbits ARE Required and must be in the rabbits left ear at least 2 weeks before fair and the tattoo numbers need to be recorded with the chairmen when checking in at the fair.    It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to contact the Chairmen if assistance is needed with tattooing their rabbits prior to June 15th. 

4.     Registration with Prior arrangement with Chairs on Saturday July 15 from 1:00-8:00 p.m, Or first come first serve on Sunday July 16, 2017.  Starting @ 7:00 – 3:00.  All animals must be checked in by 3 p.m on Sunday.  All project members will be required to turn in health papers upon arrival at registration.  We recommend that Rabbits be transported in the morning and NOT in the heat of the day.  If these times are impossible, arrangements can be made with the rabbit chairmen prior to Saturday, July 15, 2017.

5.     ALL Market Rabbits must meet the appropriate Weight Requirement to show for Champion or Reserve Market Pen OR Single Fyers.  Any over/under weight market pens will be eligible to Show in the over/under Market class and may sell at the end of the Livestock sale .

6.     Trophies will be awarded for Best of Breed, Best of Show, Reserve Best of Show, Champion and Reserve Litter Pen, Champion and Reserve Market Pen, Champion and Reserve Single Fryer and one for each division of Showmanship.

7.     Rabbit Show Trophy Winners must be present Tuesday evening July 18, 2017 prior to the start of the Goat Show in the show arena for Award Presentation.

8.     No breeding will be permitted on the premises.

9.     All Grand and Reserve Champion Market Pens and Champion and Reserve Single Fryers must be sold.

10.  All rabbit project members will participate in rabbit showmanship.  If the exhibitor does not show in the appropriate showmanship class, he/she will not be allowed to sale unless prior permission of the project /show chairmen is given.  Showmanship requires a white long sleeve shirt or lab coat.  (Divisions Department Store 304-422-9960.

 

Section II

CLASSES:

1.     Juniors 3-6 months

2.     Intermediate 6-8 months

3.     Seniors over 8 months

4.     Litter pen 4 weeks – 3 months ( 12 weeks)

5.     Market Pen 10-12 weeks of age – Each Fryer must weigh 4-6 lbs (Born between April 25 – May 9, 2017)

6.     Single Fryer Class …. Same requirements as Market pen

 

Section III – Showmanship

1.     Showman is mandatory for ALL exhibitors unless illness, accident, death or other extenuating circumstances may occur.  You can use any rabbit except for market pens for your showmanship animals.  Ties may be broken by the judge(s) of the project/show chairmen in which case they can choose another rabbit for you to use.

2.     The fair will not pay premium money on showmanship classes.  You cannot collect premium money on more than two ribbons in each class.

3.     There will be 3 showmanship classes:

A1.  Beginners - First year showman if more than 3 new members

A.     Beginners – Age 9 to 12 years old

B.     Intermediate – Age 13 to 16 years old

C.     Advance – Age 17 years old and over

 

SECTION IV – WEIGH IN

1.     Class 5 market pens may not be entered in any other class or used for showmanship.

2.     Class 5 market pens will be weighed in on Monday evening July 17, 2017.  Any project animals that do not meet the weight guidelines will be permitted to show in the over/under weight class but not be able to compete for Champion or Reserve.

3.     Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 animals may be sold anytime after being judged on Tuesday.

4.     No Sale material is to be posted until after the show.

 

SECTION V – MARKET PEN PROJECT

1.     Market Pen Project – You must own the mother of the market pen, breed her and raise the litter at your home.  Anyone not keeping their rabbits at their place of residence must present a letter to the Livestock Committee before March 1, 2017 asking for permission to continue with the project.

2.     Pen of 3 need to be from the same litter of Rabbits.

3.     All project members must attend at least one of the Quality Assurance meetings in order to show at the fair and have taken the online Quality Assurance test.

 

SECTION VI – LITTER PEN PROJECT

1.     Member must own the mother of the litter pen, breed and raise the litter at his/her home.  Anyone not keeping their rabbits at their place of residence must present a letter to the livestock committee before March 1, 2017.

2.     All Litter pen exhibitors must attend a Quality Assurance livestock meetings.

3.     All litters entered in the fair must be at least 4 weeks old and not more than 12 weeks old.  (Born between April 25 and June 20, 2017)

4.     The exhibitor must show the mother of his/her litter pen.  If the exhibitor bred and the litter died or the mother did not produce any young, the exhibitor will be eligible to show the mother or father at the fair.

5.     Litter pen Mother will be shown in 2 classes

a) Litter Pen

b) Sr Doe

 

Section VII --Single Fryer Market Class

 

1.     Can only exhibit and weigh in one single fryer to be exhibited.

1.      Must own the mother, breed and raise the fryer at your home.  Anyone not keeping their rabbit at their place of residence must present a letter to the Livestock Committee before March 1, 2017 asking for permission to continue with the project.

2.      Single Fryer Market Rabbit must be 10 - 12 weeks old.

3.     Single Fryers may not be entered in any other class or used for showmanship.

4.     Single Fryer will be weighed in on Monday evening July 17, 2017.  Any project animals that do not meet the market weight guidelines (4-6 lbs) will be permitted to show in the over/under weight class but not be able to compete for Champion or Reserve

5.     If an exhibitor exhibits the Champion or Reserve Market Pen then his/her Single Fryer can’t place any higher than third place.

6.     This class was added so an exhibitor can still complete a market project due to unforeseen circumstances with breeding and not having 3 from the litter to make a market pen.
